GYM Sub-Committee 2016-17 Chairman's report.

Dear Members,

I thank you for your support in the Club's AGM in May , allowing me to be elected as a General Committee member, and thanks also to the Datuk President for appointing me as the Chairman of the GYM Sub-Committee 2016/17 term.

The Country-Side registration counter service has been improved by way of closer attention by staff on duty to ensure all members & guests are properly registered before proceeding to use the various facilities, particularly the GYM facility which is for members only as stated in the current SGCC By-Laws.

For the general information of members, the GYM is an all-weather facility, operating daily for 16 hours, from 6am to 10pm, rain or shine. It is actually like a small factory, with equipment and machines moving almost all day long. And since some of the current equipment are 'quite old' ,this needs more closer attention, and the GYM staff on duty have been regularly briefed and instructed to pay more attention on preventive maintenance rather than on corrective maintenance.

Unfortunately our budget for a few units new equipment which includes two units treadmill and one unit elliptical cross-trainer in the last EGM was turned down. So we hope in the next term budget, this will be approved as replacement of the older units due to wear and tear.

Meanwhile, please always be reminded of the basic gym safety etiquette, eg (i) strictly no smoking,(ii) wear appropriate shoes(strictly no sandals or slippers),(iii) Always put back the dumb-bells on the rack after finishing your workouts and do not drop on the floor, (iv) when talking please keep your voice down, etc.

Keep fit to stay healthy.

Best Regards
Joseph Liew
